Marshal J. Engleka is a lifelong resident of Berlin and a 2016 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School. While in high school, Marshal served as class secretary and treasurer of the National Honor Society. Marshal also played soccer and basketball in high school, winning district championships for both sports respectfully. In his senior year, Somerset county selected Marshal to a first-team all-county in soccer. Marshal was also a member of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Marshal’s family has made a tremendous impact on his life. Early on, his grandfather Jay gave Marshal an essential lesson that he carries with him every day. He told Marshal, “Every day I worked at the garage; I treated everyone, no matter if they were a regular customer or someone just passing through town, with the utmost respect and sincerity.” His grandmother LaRue lives by the same standard. Marshal encountered this philosophy when he spent time with her; she always talked to everyone and was pleasant and modest. Those two examples are how Marshal wants to interact with the community because to Marshal; the Berlin community is an extension of his family.
After high school Marshal attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management; after college Marshal went on to work for Riverview Bank in Meyersdale, where he served as the Assistant Manager for almost a year. Marshal has recently accepted the position of Inside Sales Representative at Highland Tank and is excited to start this new career opportunity.
Outside of work, Marshal participates in a multitude of organizations. He is a member of the Meyersdale Elks Lodge No. 1951, the New Baltimore Sportsmen’s Association, and is the President of the Somerset Jaycees. Marshal holds the position of Parish Council President at his local church, he was elected after serving as a committee member at St. John the Baptist Parish council and joint liaison to the parish’s finance council in New Baltimore. Marshal is also a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he is a fourth-degree knight and has served as recorder and a trustee at his parish’s council. He also volunteers his time to help coach a local AYSO soccer team and the Lady Mountaineer Varsity Soccer team.
